I am a Brazilian scientist discovering the world with the dream of helping people through science. I earned my Master’s and PhD in Science from the Medical School of the University of São Paulo. I completed two postdoctoral fellowships in Microbiology and Immunology. My first postdoc, focused on infectious diseases and novel vaccine proposals, was carried out at the University of São Paulo and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. For my second postdoc, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, to join the University of British Columbia, where I developed a project on immunology and immunonutrition in pathogen responses.

Currently, I am a Research Associate at BC Children’s Hospital, where I am fortunate to work closely with Dr. Turvey and patients in the diagnosis of rare diseases and in exploring possible treatment options. This role has confirmed for me that I am moving in the right direction toward my dream of using science to improve lives. Outside of science, I grew up playing tennis, and I love how many lessons from the sport apply to life and research: every day brings new challenges, and while much of the work relies on individual effort, success always depends on the support of a strong team. If I don’t stop myself, I could easily write a whole paper on how tennis lessons translate into science and life!

I’m an easy-going person, always open to meeting new people and making new friends. If you see me around the BC Children’s Hospital or the city, don’t be shy—say hi! You’ll probably also find me on the tennis courts or doing some kind of workout when I’m not in the lab.
